A SURVEY OF HUEBSCHMANN AND STASHEFF'S PAPER:
FORMAL SOLUTION OF THE MASTER EQUATION
VIA HPT AND DEFORMATION THEORY

Abstract.The construction of universal twisting cocycle solving the most general form of Maurer-Cartan equation [#!HS!#] is explained in detail, together with the relation with the almost contraction of [#!AIPapa!#]. In this way the applications to derived brackets and deformation quantization are emphasized.

The relation between the Huebshmann-Stasheff construction and the Kuranishi functor of deformation theory is mentioned.
