Abstract. The most commonly used methods for computing
special functions are those based on polynomials, rational
approximation, or series expansions. When there exist recurrence
relations, the higher order functions are usually calculated using
a recursion method. In this paper, a new orthogonal type formula
for the Jacobi polynomials is given with elementary multiplier
functions used for computation of special functions
