Abstract.Let $X$ be a general curve obtained from the reduced projective curve $Y$ gluing together two points $Q,Q'$ of $Y$ to obtain a node of $X$. If $Q,Q'$ are in the same irreducible component $T$ of $Y$ (resp. in different components $T, D$) we assume $(Q,Q')$ general in $T\times T$ (resp. general in $T\times D$). Here we describe the $g^1_d$'s on $X$ in terms of the $g^1_d$'s on $Y$.
