Abstract. In this paper, a standard Galerkin finite element approximate
procedure combined with a fixed point algorithm is presented for
solving the nonlinear coupled thermistor problem with mixed boundary
conditions. The existence and uniqueness of weak solutions are
established. The convergence of the approximate solution is analyzed
and the corresponding error estimate is given.
