Abstract.In this work we use a modifed extended tanh method (METF) and modified tanh-coth method to solve the Fitzhugh-Nagumo equation. The main idea is to take full advantage of the Riccati equation that the tanh-function satisfies. So multiple travelling wave solutions of the Fitzhugh-Nagumo equation is presented and implemented in a computer algebraic system. So the efficiency of the methods can be demonstrated.
