Abstract. Results on the linear cyclicity of the Gray image of a class of linear cyclic codes over a finite chain ring $\R$ of nilpotency index 2 are presented. For this purpose, following [#!d-l!#], the generator polynomial of an $\R$-linear cyclic code of length $n$ relatively prime to the characteristic of the residual field of $\R$ is given.
