A NEW BOUND ON POISSON APPROXIMATION
FOR INDEPENDENT GEOMETRIC VARIABLES

Abstract. The Stein-Chen method is used to improve the bound in [3] to be more appropriate for measuring the accuracy of Poisson approximation with mean λ=Σi=1nqi for a sum of independently distributed geometric random variables.
